The mission

Videberg Kraft was established in April 2025 to build and operate the new nuclear power project at Värö.

Our sole purpose is to successfully develop, construct, operate and own a new nuclear plant at the Värö peninsula, in a commercial, safe, timely and cost-efficient way, to ensure new baseload production, powering Swedish industrial competitiveness and the transition towards fossil freedom. 
 

A new dawn for nuclear power

In order for Sweden and Europe to achieve their climate targets and remain competitive, the electrification of industry is crucial. The transition of the global energy system and the vital electrification required for industry to meet its climate objectives depends on increased, controllable, and stable fossil-free electricity production – where nuclear power plays an important role in the fossil-free energy mix. Swedish electricity production and industry have long held an internationally leading position in this field and are now taking the next step, by jointly investing in new nuclear power and together forming Videberg Kraft. 

For the first time in over 40 years, Sweden has the opportunity to build new nuclear power in a part of the country with the greatest needs (SE3) is, at a time when Swedish industry will require more, and above all, more reliable fossil free electricity production, in a security situation where a resilient power system is becoming increasingly important.

The Videberg project could become one of the largest industrial projects in Sweden’s history. Thousands of people will be working on the Värö peninsula in Varberg Municipality, responsible for construction, assembly, and commissioning of the modularreactors and associated systems.
